Vulnerable Years 2026 Project B

Age Group I: 3-14

Most harms are done to women during their vulnerable years. For this aim, we publish fairy tales for ages between 3 and 14.

  • We're looking for simple styles, short tales (1-5 pages) with a moral of the story at the end.
  • For an example of an effective style, please check out Charles Perrault's original fairy tales translated into English at this link: https://sites.pitt.edu/~dash/perrault02.html.
  • Fairy tales are particularly effective at instilling fear. This formal feature can be effective at helping young readers develop warning radar about potential abusers. An example in line of this idea can be an evil shapeshifter who impersonates friends, families, or even babysitters or camp leaders.
  • Though simple in style, our goal is to incorporate values and ideas that strengthen and prepare women for lifelong challenges.

Age Group II: 15-30

We're looking for stories of any genre that address the tensions between sexual attention as power and the traps that sidetrack a woman from the potentialities of her authentic being. Possible themes may include:

- cultural distortions that limit a woman's perceptions of her possibilities

- practical ways to correct these distortions

- pleasure as a result of a power structure where an individual is acted upon vs. pleasure as a result of a self-chosen experience

Ague Group III: 30-45

We are looking for stories of any genre that give peace to women and heal the psychological traumas from sexual abuse that occurred early on. Possible themes may include:

- How to move forward personally and as a community

- deal with the traumatic past

- deal with psychological effects that interfere with one's happiness

- early traumas that are reactivated during motherhood

- practical solutions that are realistic and doable to redirect tremendous sadness and rage to productive means of moving herself and the community of women forward.
